Evil #2

Evil #2 http://bit.ly/2a0eaOF is a 20-page, standard size, full color comic written and illustrated by James Edward Clark.

In an ever increasing effort to raise the spectacle of wrestling, matches are now pitting champions against real monsters! As this issue unfolds we’re taking back 666 days prior to issue #1 and witness the masked brawler Sampson grappling with a werewolf in front a cheering crowd! Backstage in the locker room an aging fighter with long golden locks battles between two people with two distinctly different motivations pulling him in different directions…all while he prepares for the main event featuring Satan!

I missed out on the first issue of this series, but the way this issue is a prequel I feel like this is a great jumping on point. The story is unique with twists that make you want to quickly flip to the end to see how things work out! The writing builds anticipation while providing excellent character development. James also includes a few footnotes and interjects his own comments to the readers that add an unexpected and enjoyable connection between writer and reader. James also illustrates Evil with outstanding craftsmanship. His lines are bold and fluid and bring a real sense of weight and depth to his subjects. The colors used are pale and an effect is applied to the pages that give them a worn and weathered look. This enhances the old-time, nostalgic feel and gives the whole comic a great look!
