Rio sets the stage by introducing the cast of characters and the plight they all face right up front. The reader is thrust into a world that has lost its sun, a people under siege by sea faring bandits with helicopter hats, and a host of other unusual characters and creatures! Monks, giant beetles, cyber punks, and a little girl all figure prominently into this weirdly entertaining story! Jumping forward in time, Rio delivers an action packed tale of a bizarre battle between even more bizarre combatants. The art is simple and frames the fast paced adventure scenes with expressive line work and exaggerated rubbery figures!
