Strange Streets #1

Strange Streets #1 is a 36-page, standard size, silent B&W comic with color covers, written and illustrated by Ryan Quackenbush.

This is a silent comic with a very distinctive look. The story revolves around a few surly looking characters that gather in a back alley room for a high stakes card game. Money is bet, mistrusting glances exchanged, cards revealed, and weapons drawn!

In the absence of dialogue Ryan delves deep into expressive art. He uses a combination of sharp angular shapes, cross hatching, and deep shadows to convey the dark mood of the story and hold the reader’s attention. Ryan’s drawings perfectly capture the emotion and tension between the characters. Each panel builds on the last as the characters move through the shadows and size each other up in the bleak corners of Strange Streets #1
