The Disgruntled Avenger! #103
The Disgruntled Avenger! #103 |
This issue finds our hero Bob at home on the toilet relieving himself of what he assumes is the remnants of a recently digested meal. Bob does ponder briefly about how everything seems to just pass right through him since eating his mother's Meat/Soup Hotdish, but he then goes about his, um...business, only to be interrupted by an unexpected visitor!
This issues makes the claim right up front that "it's all about poop," and while there is a lot of poop and poop related dialogue thrown about, it's not entirely about the poop. Nope, there's also a mysterious stranger. Who is she? What does she want? Does Bob need a "No Solicitors" sign? And can she answer Bob's burning question: "Did I wipe?" There's also Bob's somewhat overbearing parents, and that guy on the cover crawling out of the toilet. Just a plumber that really gets into his work, or is there something more nefarious about this stinker? Either way, a guy in a toilet must be involved in something poop related!
The artwork in this comic (as in all Exspastic Comics) is a treat for the eyes! Shannon Gretzon's unique use of line and screen tones really sets every comic published by Exspastic Comics apart from the crowd and this issue of The Disgruntled Avenger is no exception! Shannon illustrates the comic with a combination of bold outlines underscored by numerous accent lines that wrap round figures like crazy tendrils! Coupled with this is Shannon's artful use of screen tones to add weight and mood to various elements of the page, and aesthetically pleasing lettering, all of which result in compositions full of interesting details and plenty of action framed by flowing panels that tell some of the most bizarre stories you're likely to find in comics!
