Paper Rock Scissors n’ Stuff Wars #1
Paper Rock Scissors n’ Stuff Wars #1 http://bit.ly/2dZqM89 is a 24-page, B&W, fantasy comic created, written, and lettered by Luanga A. Nuwame, art by George Leon, front cover by Daniel Wong, editing by Marsha Jones. Published by Zelpha Comics.
The Paper Prince recounts the horrific awakening to another species of sentient beings on his planet…Scissors! The metallic giants didn’t just announce their presence, they cut through the citizens of Flatopia in a mindless frenzy! Following the violent encounter Paper decides to explore their greater surrounds and find even more previously unknown creatures in the forms of Plastics and Rocks! Suddenly the world has become a much smaller and more dangerous place, and all of the kingdoms now prepare for war! Who will prevail when Paper, Rock, and Scissors meet for battle, and how will Plastics factor into this elemental fight? Are there even more unknown forces to be dealt with? And what role do the mysterious Anvils play in all of this?
Luanga has written a truly original comic with Paper Rock Scissors n’ Stuff Wars. This story involves characters that we are all familiar with, but puts them in an entirely new context as Luanga gives each not only its own voice, but also entire kingdoms! These childhood actors in the hand game take on lives of their own as they spy on potential enemies and plot strategies to protect their ways of life. George Leon’s art breathes life into these assorted characters as he gives each “living element” a distinctive likeness, kingdom, and expression. His black and white interpretations with their heavy black pools and hatching gives the entire comic an underground look that complements the outsider vibe of this weirdly fun comic!
