Raúl the Third Raúl The Third is a Boston-based cartoonist who grew up in El Paso, Texas, and Ciudad Juarez,Mexico, and his work celebrates the Mexican-American experience in stories filled with wacky characters and situations. His first graphic novel, Lowriders in Space, features three low-riding explorers who take a fantastical trip through space; the sequel, Lowriders to the Center of the Earth, won the Pura Belpré Award for illustration. In addition to two more Lowriders stories, Raúl is the author of the picture books Vamos! Let's Go to the Market, which also won the Belpré Award, and Vamos! Let's Go Eat.
