IC3 Creator Spotlight: Enrique “QUIQUE!” Lopez
I hope you have a few days to relax this week and enjoy the holiday surrounded by friends and family. Every year, I wake up the Monday after Thanksgiving with a mix of reflections—regretting a few life choices, vowing to eat less, and promising to exercise more. This morning, as I stepped into the grocery store, there was a faint sparkle of Christmas cheer in the air. But when I made a quick stop at Costco for their amazing mashed potatoes (seriously, they're the best!), I was met with the stark contrast of holiday hustle—a "me first," hoarding mindset that felt anything but cheerful. It was a reminder of how vital it is to bring kindness and positivity into the world, especially as the season grows busier. That's a core pillar of Indie Comics Creator Con: fostering a spirit of encouragement, connection, and inspiration. With that in mind, I hope Enrique Lopez's fantastic ink work brings a smile to your face. Enrique "QUIQUE!" Lopez is a seasoned freelance artist and writer who began his career in the late 1980s. After achieving recognition and accolades in the advertising world, he returned to his passion for comics in 2018. Since then, Enrique has become a familiar face on the convention circuit, showcasing his talents at numerous events across the East Coast and Midwest. His work as both a writer and artist has been featured in several anthologies, including Stupendous, Horrendous, Not So Fair Tales, Modern Mythology, and Might, Magic & Monster-In-Laws. Enrique has also contributed cover art to various independent comics, such as Ameri-Kaiju, Codename: Hunter, Gunmetal Black Ops, and Bladeshot. He proudly participated in the Inkwell Awards' Joe Sinnott Tribute Challenge as an inker and lent his skills to sketch card projects like Rusty Ink's The Earth Trembles. Currently, Enrique is an artist on Triple Threat Comics' Codename: Hunter and Soul Eraser. Looking ahead, he plans to launch his own comic book line in 2026.
